Abia Govt Denies Involvement in former COAS Ihejirika’s Governorship Ambition

The former COAS is reportedly eyeing the top civil service job in Abia
The Abia State government has described the report written by one Willy Eya of The Sun newspaper linking the Abia First Family to the purported governorship ambition of the former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Ihejirika (retd.), as deceitful and malicious.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Charles Ajunwa, said that the actual intention of the reporter of the said story is to paint the hardworking Abia First Family in bad light.

According to him, the claim by the reporter that Ihejirika had the support of the Abia State governor, his wife and son to actualize his alleged governorship ambition “is not only laughable but a comic relief to justify and satisfy his paymasters.”
Continuing he said: “Mr. Willy Eya showed how connected he is narrating what happened in faraway United States where in Dr. Okey Nwadiuko’s house, former Chief of Staff assured his kinsmen and more that he will contest.
“Conversely he claimed that the governor, his wife and son have thrown their weight behind Ihejirika with full financial sponsorship without telling us where this happened.
“This delirious speculations, even assured financial sponsorship yet he passed it off as authentic information. Though we are not surprised of such coming from The Sun newspaper, it’s a joke taken too far.
His Excellency Chief T.A.Orji is proffering solutions to the problems of the state and cannot afford such mischievous distractions. Enough is enough.”
