Can Nigeria adopt the Chinese Style?

With the ushering in of a new government on May 29, 2015 marks another milestone and further maturation of democracy in Nigeria.
As a new government with a new ideology. from the major opposition party- All Progressive Congress (APC) is formed after the 16yrs solo rule of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Dubbed 'Africa's Largest Party.

The new government of 'Change' promises a different 'flavour' from what the former 'transformation' government offered. The new government is very vocal making its distaste for corruption known, and its willingness to fight it.
Corruption which is one of the major vices Nigeria is known for all over the world assumed another dimension in the recent years which was frightful and led to a negative chain reaction all over the country from Odua Gate to the Dasuki Gate, to The Stephen Pension fraud. All this does not portend well for the country, as it further increases the inequality and poverty prevalent in the country.
The war on corruption in Nigeria unlike other developing countries is complex and there is "more than meets the eye". The war should start from the strengthening of the various public institution financially and with necessary logistics.  Also the war should also include structuring of political appointments to make it seem less juicy and attractive so as to discourage non patriotic elements, and help accommodate citizens ready to pilot the affairs of the nation forward.
In effectively winning the war against corruption (reducing it to the barest minimum), Nigeria needs to adopt the Chinese styled approach.
This writer is not supporting death sentence for every corruption and corruption related offence, but adopting the Chinese style of curbing corruption in this context means that public officials found guilty of corruption should be given harsher punishment like very lengthy jail time (Community service, 5, 10, 30, 50 life imprisonment, death sentence- if it involves the loss of human lives) depending on the severity of their offence.
Adopting this method would help Nigeria to an appreciable extent in winning the war against corruption which is robbing Nigeria of its resources and taking its 'seat' among the top Nations of the world.
Long live the federal republic of Nigeria.
