The Primary School Academic staffs in Kwara State have embarked on strike to protest the three month backlog of their salaries and allowances owed by the Kwara State Government.
The Strike which was initiated by the State's Teachers at the primary level commenced on the 4th of January, 2015 which was the date which schools (primary and secondary) were slated to resume academic activities for the second term.
In an interview by GROOVENAIJA, our source who craved anonymity, He said the State Government shifted the Resumption date by a week so as to mask the strike by the primary school teachers supported by the Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (KWASUBEB). And The Secondary School Teachers are contemplating on joining their counterpart at the primary level as a way of showing empathy and solidarity.
In another interview which the source a Secondary School teacher also craved anonymity, She said in her words " Kwara State Government is not motivating the workers to put in their best, as they have been denied of their salaries which is the main income of many Teachers both in the Primary and Secondary level.
Since the past few months, I have been sending money to my younger brother who is a teacher in one of the primary schools in Moro local government. The situation is not encouraging at all".

The Kwara State Government has also been under heavy criticism from different quarters recently and accused of not effectively managing the Tsaragi/Share Crisis.
